La Nazionale over 50 medaglia d'argento ai Mondiali

Impresa della Nazionale over 50, composta da Fabrizio Bellia, Alberto David, Lexy Ortega, Michele Godena e Carlo D'Amore, che, ai Mondiali di Cracovia, si è aggiudicata la medaglia d'argento, arrivando seconda, con 15 punti, dietro soltanto agli Stati Uniti (16) e davanti a Inghilterra 1. I nostri azzurri tra l'altro avevano battuto durante il torneo gli Stati Uniti, ma non è bastato per il successo finale. I nostri comunque hanno concluso il torneo con 7 match vinti, 1 pareggiato e 1 solo perduto.

Eccellenti anche le prestazioni in scacchiera: Godena ha vinto l'oro in seconda scacchiera, D'Amore l'argento in quinta, Ortega il bronzo in quarta. David e Bellia quinti rispettivamente in prima e in terza.

Molto buono anche il risultato della Nazionale over 65 (Carlos Garcia Palerno, Roberto Messa, Mario Cocozza, Franco Trabattoni e Ivano Ceschia), arrivata quinta a 11 punti, con 4 vittorie, 3 pareggi e 2 sconfitte. Particolarmente felice la prestazione di Ceschia, vincitore della medaglia d'oro in quinta scacchiera con uno stupefacente 5 su 5.
