Mondiale Seniores over 50: Michele Godena medaglia di bronzo!

Una grande gioia per gli scacchi italiani. Ce l'ha regalata Michele Godena che, con un grande finale, ha ottenuto il terzo posto e la medaglia di bronzo al Mondiale Seniores Over 50, che si è concluso a Gallipoli il 1° novembre. Godena, che partiva settimo nel tabellone, pareva fuori dai giochi dopo aver perso nell'ottavo turno contro l'israeliano Mikhalevski (che poi ha vinto il torneo), ma è riuscito a vincere gli ultimi due match contro lo spagnolo Lacasa e il kazako Kazhgaleyev, spodestando dal podio quest'ultimo per spareggio tecnico.

Molto bene fra gli italiani anche Fabio Bellini (13mo), Fabrizio Bellia (20mo) e Giulio Borgo (30mo). Nell'Over 65 il migliore azzurro è stato Lexy Ortega, trentesimo.
